If you ended up here you probably wondering how to fix the error 720 ? Am i right ?

Let’s get to the point straight then, you don’t want to see tons of talking for nothing i guess, you want a fix NOW !

I have 2 solutions you should try, the first one is like the mouth-to-mouth of the error 720, the first thing you need to do before taking further actions.

You are probably using Windows XP, since i have yet to encounter such an error on windows 7.

So there is a step by step solution:

- click on start -> configuration panel -> network connections
- under VPN (Virtual Private Network), right click on your connection then click on properties
- click on Network management and be sure there is a network protocol excecuted on the server, if you have nothing follow the next steps:
- click on install, then protocol, then add
- pick up the protocol needed, then click ok
- close the VPN box

This is the most common fix for the error 720.

Now if you haven’t fixed the issue doing the above, you might have a driver issue, and this could cause you a LOT of searching and might end up wanting to smash the computer from frustration (yes i know what it is :p).
I had this issue a few times while setting up my own VPN, while the first solution worked on a few computers i had 2 of the others that didn’t work whatever i did.
I tried Windows reinstall, uninstall and reinstall drivers, changed network cards etc etc nothing worked.

After a ton of searching i finally ended up trying a software a friend recommanded me called Driver Robot, to be honest i had very low expectation in such software after i tried millions things to get the damn VPN to work.
So I installed it, did the drivers updates etc, rebooted and WOW IT WORKED !!

I paid it and it fixed my issue, saved me a headache (well another) and made me all like WOOHOO IT WORKS NOW (ahem … well you know how it is … )
